CBD Rituals & Setting Your Intentions for 2022

CBD Rituals & Setting Your Intentions for 2022

For many of us, the new year heralds a fresh start. Even if you’re not someone who makes New Year’s resolutions, setting intentions for the months ahead can be a beautiful and powerful way to align with a way of being in the coming year, rather than achieving a concrete goal.

This gentle practice may help you draw what you’re seeking toward you in the coming months, or it may help keep you on track to living a life more attuned to what matters most to you.

Either way, incorporating CBD rituals into your intention-setting for 2022 may be just the thing to help you release what no longer serves you, and welcome positivity in your life with ease, focus, and openness.

Using CBD tincture as part of your meditation practice

Meditation can come in many forms. From sitting quietly on a Zafu cushion to reaching for your Headspace app or journaling for a few minutes every day, you probably meditate to help you feel more grounded and less stressed.

However you choose to meditate, you may find—as so many of us often do—that your stressful or anxious thoughts are often the biggest obstacles to reaching a state of mindfulness or peace during a meditation session.

This is where a CBD tincture can help. CBD, or cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid  found in the hemp plant, part of the Cannabis sativa family of plants. While CBD is non- psychoactive—meaning, it won’t make you feel “high” like the THC in marijuana does—it does work within the body’s endocannabinoid system to promote homeostasis, or balance…and part of the reason it’s become so popular is that many people find it helps them feel less anxious and more focused.

To incorporate CBD into your meditation practice, create a ritual around taking it that feels as special as the mediation itself. First, find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably. Light a candle if you’re so inclined, and set your intention for your practice.

Then, take a few slow, deep breaths, releasing tension lingering in your body. When you’re ready, take the CBD tincture (we love the high quality ones by Iremia CBD) and indulge in a few more mindful breaths. Continue on with your practice, allowing the CBD to go to work within your endocannabinoid system to help you feel more relaxed as it calms inflammation throughout your body, continuing long after your meditation session ends.

Incorporating CBD lotion into your movement routine

Moving our bodies—whether it’s on a Peleton bike or a yoga mat—can be an integral part of intention setting. Are you manifesting strength? Self-compassion or self-love? Are you setting the intention to honor what your body needs, or to listen to its wisdom? Whatever your intention, and however you show up to move your body, CBD can help support your movement routine.

Consider adding a CBD lotion to your post-workout ritual. After showering, take a moment to breathe deeply. Feel your feet rooted to the floor, or notice the muscles you just worked that are now fatigued from use.

Now, take a few pumps of CBD body lotion (we love the relaxing lavender scent of this one) and run it over your damp skin, taking care to really work it in to areas that you just worked out.

CBD is great for helping sore muscles to recover, and when applied topically, it interacts locally with cannabinoid receptors in the skin to help ease muscle pain, calm inflammation on skin and below it, and to moisturize and give skin an antioxidant boost.

Honoring your skin with CBD skincare

Caring for your skin can be an uplifting and meaningful intention-setting practice. As you wash your face at the end of the day, think about the thoughts that pass through your head.

Are they gentle and kind thoughts that align with how you’ve been wanting to treat yourself? If your intention is, “I intend to be grateful for my skin just as it is today,” for example, are there thoughts you can train your mind on to help you feel more thankful in the moment?

Once you’ve washed your face, take a few minutes to honor it with a CBD skin care mask that helps restore moisture, calms irritation and inflammation, and helps promote relaxation.

“MASK CBD Skincare sheet masks aren’t just about treating the skin, though they are excellent for that purpose,” notes MASK Founder, Sarah Mirsini.

“I am a true believer in the ritual behind skincare, and how our thoughts can show up on our skin. My hope is that when people use MASK, they are able to let go of what isn’t serving them, and revel in the beauty of the present moment. When they’re done with the mask and they look in the mirror, my wish is that they appreciate the face looking back at them.”
