CBD Skin Care: How to Combat Acne on Different Body Parts

As life returns to “normal,” many of us are trading our quarantine-life clothes for more seasonally appropriate attire—and with summer on the horizon, that means we’ll be showing more skin in no time.

While we can’t wait to welcome the warmth of sunshine on our bare limbs, the stress of the past year—coupled with changes in dietary habits, workouts, product sensitivity or maybe for no particular reason at all—has weighed heavily on our skin, sometimes resulting in acne on parts of our bodies we’ve not paid much attention to. If you’ve had breakouts on your butt, back or chest, you’re not alone.

We’re breaking down which natural CBD skin care products you can use to help combat acne on different body parts—so you can be ready to bare your summer skin in no time.

So you have bit of buttne…

Sitting on Zoom calls all day, revving up your spring workouts for the coming summer, wearing clothing that rubs and chafes or simply for no reason at all: Like anywhere on our bodies, butt acne—or “buttne”— can appear out of nowhere and run the gamut from small, itchy red bumps to inflamed, red cysts. In fact, most of the time, buttne isn’t actual acne but rather folliculitis, an inflammation around the hair follicles. Whatever its scientific definition, we know that buttne can be uncomfortable and annoying to deal with—especially with swimsuit season rapidly approaching.

Keeping the breakout clean and reducing inflammation are the top two best ways to help heal buttne and keep it at bay. Though you may want to go to town with that body scrub or dry brush, resist the urge to exfoliate, which can actually make things worse. According to Real Simple, buttne is quite common. People often think they are doing themselves a favor by doing this because it makes their rear end feel — key word — smoother. In reality, they are just worsening the inflammation, which could lead to  potential scarring  and  hyperpigmentation.

Instead, wash with a gentle soap free of artificial fragrance and dry the area completely. Then, apply MASK CBD Skincare Spotless Sheet Mask to the affected areas (you can cut the mask into several strips if you need to) for 15-20 minutes.

The anti-inflammatory CBD and soothing aloe in the mask will help
calm the irritation, the tea tree oil will help combat the breakout, and helichrysum will help speed the healing and help to fade scarring on your skin. Remove the mask and gently pat the area dry, then follow with a few drops of MASK’s Spotless CBD Balancing Serum.

Its natural and organic ingredients mirror those in the CBD sheet mask, allowing for double dose of magic—and because the serum is weightless, it penetrates the skin to address skin discontent at its source.

Stubborn bacne?

Like buttne, bacne can strike at any time, and for seemingly any reason—though sweat, chafing from sports bras, and even hair products are common causes of clogged pores and breakouts on the back. And as with buttne, avoiding physical exfoliants when dealing with bacne is important to further exacerbate irritation. Instead, keep skin clean with a gentle yet highly effective cleanser like this one with activated bamboo charcoal, and follow with sweep of toner across affected areas to remove any sweat, dead skin or product build-up (we love this one by True Botanicals for clearing and healing acne).

On clean, dry skin, follow the same application as you would for buttne: Apply MASK CBD Skincare Spotless Sheet Mask to the affected areas (you can cut the mask into several strips if you need to) for 15- 20 minutes. This will allow the anti-inflammatory CBD and soothing aloe to help calm the irritation as anti-bacterial Manuka honey extract and tea tree oil combat the breakout. Wonder ingredient helichrysum will help speed the healing and help to fade scarring on your back. Remove the mask and gently pat the area dry, then follow with a few drops of MASK’s Spotless CBD Balancing Serum . Allow to dry completely before getting dressed.

Bye-bye, chest breakouts

Sweat, snug clothing (looking at you again, sports bras), product overload and even laundry detergent can irritate the delicate and thin skin on our chests, leading to irritation and even acne breakouts. As with bacne and buttne, gentle treatments are key. Avoid stripping skin with overly harsh products, as they can
cause further inflammation and breakouts. Stick with the advice above: gentle soap made without artificial fragrance, a sweep of a balancing toner, and the combination of a CBD sheet mask with a CBD face serum.

“Any type of acne can be painful, irritating, and really frustrating, especially as we move from being bundled up all winter to baring our skin more in the warmer months,” says Sarah Mirsini, founder of MASK CBD Skincare.

“Using a combination of MASK CBD sheet masks and our CBD skin serums can
really calm and heal existing breakouts and prevent new ones in the future. The infusion of anti- inflammatory, anti-bacterial and healing natural ingredients into both products work in conjunction to balance skin from deep within. Try using the serum twice daily, and the masks as a booster once or twice a week—many of our customers have had success with acne by using this method.”
